One Portland Place

Service: Decoration & Restoration

Sector: Commercial

Home to the Chinese and Polish embassies, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the world-famous BBC, Portland Place is one of the most prestigious streets in London.

With such recognised professional bodies sharing the postcode it is important for the buildings to look their very best at all times.

BSPS and their expert team were called upon to restore and redecorate No.1 Portland Place. Works included external repairs and decoration to the existing windows, a full DOFF clean to the iconic red brickwork and repairs to the Portland stone and bottle balustrade.

Away from the street and at roof height, BSPS also undertook repairs to the chimneys, lead and slate works and a new solar reflective coating to the roof. All this work was carried out behind a fully erected scaffold, which in line with the nature of the area and the narrowness of the street, was no easy feat.

Thanks to BSPS the stunning red brick building with Portland stone pillars and stone work was restored to its former glory and will be admired for many years to come.
